🌿 About Me
I’m Katie, a qualified Certified Play Therapist and now a trainee creative counsellor based in the heart of Matlock, offering a calm, nurturing space where children and young people up to 18 (25 if in care or SEN) can explore their feelings, build resilience, and reconnect with their sense of self. My approach is gentle, creative, and grounded in the belief that everyone has the capacity to grow when they feel truly seen and supported. I have worked with children for 20 years particularly neurodiverse children and those that are living with high anxiety as a special needs learning mentor and LA education advisor. My service is available for all children but I specialise in Autism, ADHD, PDA, School based anxiety, Bereavement, Domestic Violence, family changes and general anxiety.
🎨 My Approach
- Play Therapy: For children, play is their natural language. Through creative tools—such as art, sand, stories, and movement—I help them express what they may not yet have words for. This process supports emotional regulation, confidence, and healing from difficult experiences.
- Counselling for Teens: I offer a warm, non‑judgmental space to explore anxiety, stress, low mood, life transitions, and relationship challenges. My style is collaborative and compassionate, helping clients make sense of their experiences and move forward with clarity.
- Parent Empowerment Sessions: I can also hold one to one sessions with parents/carers that are looking for neutral advice managing the challenges of parenting children with SEN.

Everyone deserves a space where they can feel safe, valued, and understood. Whether I’m working with a child who’s struggling to cope, a teenager navigating big emotions, or a parent seeking advice and support: to walk alongside you with empathy, curiosity, and respect.
📍 Based in Matlock, Belper, Bakewell, Derby and a child’s school
My practice is rooted in the Derbyshire communities, offering a peaceful environment that encourages reflection and emotional growth. I welcome clients from across Derbyshire and the surrounding areas.
